The "meromissi" is a very rare phaenomenon which takes place in the Cadagno lake and in very few lakes on the planet.

The water of the lake is separated into two layers that never get mixed. The top layer is rich in oxygen and is therefore ideal for the fish; the water on the bottom, where only a few micro-organisms can suvive, does not contain any oxygen.
